      Hi good people,

yesterday a user pointed me to this Expi293 PRO kit (Thermo), that also include Epxi293 PRO cells.
      https://tinyurl.com/expi293pro

Apparently, yields are much higher than standard Expi293, at least for transient transfection.

Someone who tried them or know something more?
Is this higher yield due to cells or to transfection reagent?

      Thanks in advance
      have a nice day
      Luigi

      Hi Luigi,

I was wondering exactly the same thing!

For now we are working with standard Expi293.. and i’ll have a meeting with thermo on monday to discuss about this new kit..

If someone has already tried it, I would also be interested on a feedback

      Have a nice day

yes we have been using them for a while now, the media is more expensive but we have seen improved yields for some proteins (not all) for membrane proteins its been double for GPCRs (on average) but ion channels we saw little improvement (for the proteins we tested). For biologics we did see an improvement the most was around 7 fold but it was case by case…. on average they are better but its how the cost of the kits/media aligns with the improved yield

      Hi,

I tested this cell line for the production of recombinant antibodies and observed a three- to seven-fold increase in protein yield.

We have just tested the PRO kit with antibodies and seen a substantial increase as well (1 g/L).

So far, quite convinced about their performance

        Hi Sabine,

sorry, did’t realise it was the public forum.

I’ll open another discussion in the confidential one so that you can cancel this in case.

        sorry again,
        Best
