The Vienna Biocenter Core Facilities (VBCF) serves as a hub for science and technology and enables scientific discoveries through its collaborative spirit and access to state-of-the art technologies. The Protech facility is seeking a Senior Core Technician (Eukaryotic Technologies).

Key responsibilities
In your role you will be a key member of the ProTech Facility focused on recombinant protein production in two cell culture systems (mammalian and insect) but involved in all aspects of recombinant protein production and characterization.

Specifically, your primary tasks will include:
• Mammalian and insect cell culture
• Transient transfection of HEK293 cells
• Generation of recombinant baculovirus (BV)
• Generation of mammalian cell lines
• Support lab organisation and manage GMO records to streamline day-to-day operations

Key requirements
• Training in biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology, or a closely related field
• Practical experience in cell culture (at least 6 months) as well as molecular biology techniques required for preparation and analysis of recombinant BV (PCR, transformation, agarose gel electrophoresis)
• Thorough understanding of the theoretical and technical principles in molecular biology
• Self-organized, careful, and independent working style within a team
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written) is required; German skills are an asset
• Enthusiastic, friendly, collaborative mindset and the ability to interact professionally with our customers/users
